Advanced camp is limited to the most dedicated students, by invitation only. Advanced campers have demonstrated unusual aptitude at basic camps learning quickly, acting as leaders, and mastering elements of the craft.
These young men and women must have the mental and physical ability to endure harsh exposure to the elements, commit to exertion beyond the normal, handle intense pressure and work as a team to prevent and solve medical scenarios, conflict, logistics, plan navigation, provide shelter, food / water acquisition and purification, and much more. They are autonomous with the guidance of a counselor but camp together, alone, and make decisions in remote wilderness locations. Scouts are not allowed to have sleeping bags, tents or any fire starting tools other than what they make themselves. Things can be salvaged from found items and used but gear is limited.
The girls took a separate trip but had no camera. I hear it was beautiful and as usual, remote, wild, and cold.
We guys spent our time traversing a high altitude wilderness lake by various craft.
Sometimes it's tough...this trip was a stroll through paradise. Good job guys!
